Before the development of the Picto framework, Lee Lab used the Orion application for all experimentation. Orion was originally created by John Swan-Stone in the Center for Visual Science at the University of Rochester; versions 1.1 and newer were written by Mark Hammond of the Lee Lab.
Orion is a C++ based framework, and experiments are authored directly in C++ using Visual Studio. Lee lab has migrated away from Orion in favor of the Picto framework; however, it is still in use in some cases to support legacy experimentation.
Pictobox devices are designed with this backwards compatibility in mind and Orion's libraries have been modified to run smoothly on Pictobox hardware.
